Sometimes parents or guardians need time for themselves. Respite offers you, the caregiver, the opportunity to take a few hours off while a trained, compassionate staff comes to your home to spend time with your loved one. Respite is available for children and adults who live at home with family members.
Respite Group Recreation
Rather than having a staff person come to your home, Respite also offers the opportunity for your loved one to spend time with others and participate in fun activities such as dances, concerts, sporting events, workshops for the arts and much more.
These activities, which take place on weekday afternoons and some weekends, facilitate socialization and communication skills, money management, physical and intellectual growth and enjoyment of new endeavors. The programs often take place within the community or with community members, offering them an authentic, inclusionary setting. Activity requests are always encouraged, and participation in any given event is optional.
