The Arc of Ulster-Greene offers professional development programs for enthusiastic, committed Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Frontline Supervisors (FLS). Staff enrolled in the program participate in online classes and in-person classes for 12 months.
Each staff then assembles a portfolio, or work sample, designed to demonstrate mastery of the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals competencies. The portfolio is used as a competency-based assessment of the applicant’s skills, knowledge and attitudes. This process offers staff the opportunity to direct their own learning and practice their skills.
Upon completion of this program staff get a nationally recognized credential, advanced knowledge, skills, and a sense of empowerment.
The Arc of Ulster-Greene looks to our credentialed DSPs and FLS’s to champion person-centered approaches.
